A teleseminar interview with John Ford,
mediator, trainer and speaker.
Given that conflict is an inevitable fact of organizational life, the ability of
leaders to manage their own conflicts, and those of their employees, is one of
the most valuable skill sets a leader can possess. In fact, more than anything
it is our ability as leaders to manage conflict well that distinguishes us from
our peers. Learn about the costs of unmanaged conflict, but more importantly
learn the secret of what conflict competent leaders do and don’t do. Learn how to recognize
conflict early so you can prevent its destructive potential. Learn how to use
conflict to get your needs met and keep you and your employees happy.
John Ford
supports organizational reliability through a focus on
communication, team building and conflict management. He has
provided training on holistic management of conflict to thousands of
employees in the workplace, increasingly to employees in health care
settings.
Mr.
Ford is an experienced mediator who has successfully helped
countless individuals resolve difficult problems. He has
strengthened relationships between numerous groups that were
struggling to get along. He has mediated for the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission and currently serves on Lumetra’s quality of
care mediation panel.
His
start in conflict management was over 18 years ago as a labor and
employment law attorney in Namibia. Since moving to Oakland,
California, in addition to being heavily involved in mediation
locally, nationally and internationally, he has directed a
certificate program in Organizational Conflict Management at JFK
University in Pleasant Hill, has served as managing editor of
Mediate.com since 1999, and is a past President of the Association
for Dispute Resolution of Northern California (ADRNC). He is the
current trainer of mediation skills to members of the Northern
California Human Resource Management Association.
John is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, ADRNC,
and the Northern California Society for HealthCare Risk Management.
His articles on conflict management have been published
internationally.
